(July 1, 2015) – Today, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) started a $1.8 resurfacing project to improve MD 60 (Leitersburg Pike) between Courtland Drive to MD 418 (Ringgold Pike) in Leitersburg, northeast of Hagerstown. The five mile resurfacing project should be complete by late summer; weather permitting. Crews will not work on Friday, July 3 for the Independence Day holiday.

Crews will patch sections of deteriorated pavement, grind (remove the top layer of asphalt) and resurface MD 60. Using a flagging operation to guide traffic, crews will close one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.  SHA’s contractor for the project is C. William Hetzer, Inc. of Hagerstown.

Approximately 17,000 motorists travel this section of Leitersburg Pike each day.  During construction, commuters should allow extra travel time through the work zone.
