(May 7, 2015) – Tonight at 9 p.m. Washington Gas will begin installing a 12-inch gas transmission line under MD 414 (St. Barnabas Road) in Marlow Heights, Prince George’s County. The project requires MD 414 travel lanes to be narrowed and traffic to be shifted between Wheeler Road to South Barnaby Road. Weather permitting; work should be complete by late May.

Although all travel lanes will be maintained by Washington Gas during the project, motorists should remain alert for changing traffic patterns in the work zone. Motorists may encounter utility work weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Residents and travelers are advised that equipment used for construction can be loud and disruptive.

In 2014, nine people lost their lives in Maryland work zone crashes, including four highway workers.
