Motorists Should Expect Delays along MD 213 during Construction

(October 3, 2008) – Next week, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin a $105,000 project to widen and reconstruct the intersection at MD 213 (Centreville Road) and Coursevall Drive in Centreville, Queen Anne’s County. Weather permitting, the project will be completed by mid-November.

SHA will reconstruct the existing curb and gutter along Coursevall Drive to improve the turning radius for vehicles turning into and exiting Coursevall Dive at MD 213.

Other work on the project includes resurfacing and re-striping approximately 1000 feet along each direction of MD 213 and Coursevall Drive at the MD 213 intersection. A private developer working on improvements to Centreville Business Park is currently installing a traffic signal at the intersection, which will be activated by mid-November.

Motorists can expect daytime single lane closures along MD 213 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. SHA will use dynamic message signs, arrow boards, and cones and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone.

SHA awarded the contract to David A. Bramble of Chestertown. SHA and the contractor appreciate motorists’ patience during the construction process and remind all drivers to plan for extra travel time, buckle up and obey posted speed limits while driving through highway work zones. Citizens who have questions about traffic operations on 213 or other State numbered routes in Queen Anne’s County may call SHA’s District 2 Office at 410-810-3200 or toll free at 1-800-637-9740.
