(July 29, 2014) – On Wednesday, July 30 the State Highway Administration (SHA) will close a section of MD 675 (Somerset Avenue) in Princess Anne to all traffic all day, starting at 6 a.m., from Mt. Vernon Boulevard (near the Royal Farms Store) to UMES Boulevard.

The road is scheduled to open to traffic by sunset on the same day.

The purpose of the closure is for SHA Contractors to conduct road and utility work, allowing them to install a 42-inch concrete pipe below MD 675.  Crews will establish a detour for traffic traveling north on MD 675 to turn left on to MD 362 (Mt. Vernon Road), then turn right on to US 13 (Ocean Highway), followed by another right on to MD 822 (UMES Blvd.)  Motorists traveling southbound on MD 675 will follow the detour in the reverse direction.
While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safe driving. Safe work zones. For everyone!
