Single Lane Closures on Eastbound and Westbound Security Boulevard (MD 122) in Effect 24 Hours a Day for Eleven Weeks

(December 11, 2013) – Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) contractors are relocating a section of underground natural gas pipeline along Security Boulevard in Woodlawn that requires the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) to institute long-term single lane closures of the road this winter.  The lane closures will improve safety for BGE workers and travelers.

Beginning December 12, SHA and BGE will close the left lanes of eastbound and westbound Security Boulevard between Ingleside Avenue and a point southeast of the I-70 overpass.   The temporary traffic pattern will be in effect 24 hours a day for approximately 11 weeks.

SHA advises motorists traveling in the Woodlawn area of Baltimore County to drive with caution, anticipate delays and plan ahead for extra travel time during the next ten weeks.

Work is being done as part of BGE’s Granite Pipeline Relocation Project to relocate an existing underground natural gas pipeline located near the Baltimore City/Baltimore County border and the I-70/Security Boulevard interchange.  The Granite Pipeline Relocation Project is part of BGE’s ongoing investment in equipment that allows the continued safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers.

For more information about the BGE gas pipeline relocation project, citizens may contact BGE directly through its website, www.bge.com or by phone toll-free 1-800-685-0123.
