Point of Rocks Road Scheduled to Reopen Tomorrow by 5 P.M.

(November 13, 2008) – Tomorrow, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will reopen the MD 464 (Point of Rocks Road) Bridge over Catoctin Creek in Point of Rocks by 5 p.m., weather permitting.

SHA closed the bridge near Point of Rocks on Monday, October 20 because the bridge needed repairs prior to its scheduled replacement in spring 2010. The MD 464 Bridge has been on a more aggressive yearly inspection schedule along with bridges scheduled for replacement. The normal inspection schedule for State Highway bridges is every two years.

SHA thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation during the MD 464 closure. Citizens who have questions about traffic operations along MD 464, or other State numbered routes in Frederick County, may call SHA’s District 7 Office at 301-624-8100 or toll free at 1-800-635-5119.
