Road to be Closed Indefinitely as WSSC Repairs Water Main; Drivers to be Detoured           
          
          
(December 23, 2008) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) has temporarily closed MD 190 (River Road) between Seven Locks Road and MD 191 (Bradley Boulevard) near Congressional Country Club in Montgomery County due to a major water main break.           
          
As approximately 8 a.m., SHA was made aware of a major water main break along River Road. WSSC is working to repair the water main and there is damage to River Road. The road will be inspected after the water subsides to determine the appropriate course of action.          
          
Motorists in the area are being detoured:          
          
- From I-495, northbound River Road traffic will be detoured to a right onto Seven Locks Road, a left onto MD 191 (Bradley Blvd) back to River Road.          
- Southbound River Road traffic will be detoured to a left onto MD 191 (Bradley Boulevard) to a right onto Seven Locks Road back to River Road.          
          
SHA has variable message signs and arrowboards in place directing motorists around the closure. Any questions about the status of the repairs to the water main should be directed to WSSC Office of Public Information at (301) 206-8100.
