(November 15, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) will conduct the final two temporary detours around the MD 313 (Federalsburg Highway) bridge over Marshyhope Creek in Federalsburg on Tuesday, November 20 and a week later on Monday, November 26.  The two detours will allow for the pouring of the final two sections of concrete for the new bridge deck (driving surface).

SHA will close the bridge on Tuesday morning, November 20 from 4 a.m. to 12 a.m. The same closure times will occur on Monday, November 26.   Due to narrow streets and tight turning radius within the Town of Federalsburg, large vehicles and tractor-trailers will be detoured nearly 15 miles to the Town of Hurlock and return to Federalsburg.

Larger vehicles traveling westbound on MD 318 (Bridgeville Road) will be directed south on to the Reliance Road portion of MD 313, then continue on the Eldorado Road section of MD 313.

The detour will direct westbound MD 392 (Harrison Ferry Road) to the Town of Hurlock.  Motorists will then turn eastbound on MD 307 (Williamsburg Road) and travel east on MD 307 until reaching a roundabout west of Federalsburg, where they can turn either north or south on to MD 313 (Federalsburg Highway).

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone!
