(August 17, 2012) –The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is temporarily closing one lane next week for weekday and nighttime construction on I-95 in Prince George’s County between MD 198 (Sandy Spring Road) and MD 200 (Intercounty Connector).
On Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22, crews will close the right exit lane from northbound I-95 to eastbound MD 198 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Crews will also close a single lane on I-95 nightly:
• Right southbound lane: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
• Left northbound lane: Wednesday and Thursday night between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The lane closures are associated with the I-95/Contee Road interchange project. SHA encourages motorists to plan for extra commute time to avoid construction delays. More than 184,000 vehicles use I-95 daily.
As crews work to keep work zones safe, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone.
