WHAT:

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting an informational meeting about an upcoming project to rehabilitate the MD 140 (Westminster Pike) Bridge over the North Branch of the Patapsco River (Liberty Reservoir) at the Baltimore/Carroll County line.

WHEN:

Thursday, June 14 between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m.
Arrive at any time. There is no formal presentation.

WHERE:
Franklin Elementary School – Gymnasium
33 Cockeys Mill Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136

WHY:

The MD 140 Bridge over the North Branch of the Patapsco River is scheduled for major rehabilitation starting early 2013. SHA will replace the bridge deck and supporting steel beams and widen the shoulders on the structure. SHA is finalizing plans to maintain traffic across the bridge during construction. The project will be complete in two years, weather permitting.

The meeting provides the public an opportunity to inform SHA of any special considerations for the project. The team will set up displays depicting operational and safety improvements and be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

Because the bridge, constructed in 1944, is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, SHA is working with the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) regarding repair of the historic property.

More information about the project is available by contacting Mr. Daniel Beck, SHA Project Manager, by phone at 410-545-8317 or e-mail at DBeck@sha.state.md.us. Maryland Relay Service for the meeting will also be available by dialing 7-1-1.
