(May 9, 2012) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is temporarily closing and detouring the interchange ramps from MD 715 north and south (Short Lane) to US 40 east (Pulaski Highway/Philadelphia Boulevard) this weekend to replace three drainage pipes underneath the ramps.  

Beginning 5 a.m. Saturday, May 12, drivers using MD 715 traveling to eastbound US 40 (towards the Walmart and downtown Aberdeen) and westbound US 40 (towards Riverside and Edgewood) will be directed to use Old Philadelphia Road for approximately one mile to reach US 40 East.  

Drivers traveling from MD 715 to local businesses, restaurants and lodging on US 40 between the interchange and MD 132 (West Bel Air Avenue) will be directed to travel east on Old Philadelphia Road, turn right onto US 40 east and continue to the first signalized intersection at MD 132 (West Bel Air Avenue), and make a U-turn at the signal to reach destinations on US 40 west.  (Left turns from Old Philadelphia Road to US 40 West are prohibited.)

Drivers traveling from MD 715 to the Walmart supercenter may use Old Philadelphia Road to reach the back entrance of  Walmart. 

The detour will be in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, May 14.  In case of inclement weather, the ramp closure will take place next weekend, May 19-21.  
 

This work is part of SHA’s $17.8 million project to improve the US 40/MD 715 interchange.
