(April 12, 2012) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) announces work along two major east-west routes in northern Anne Arundel County.  Nearly two and one-half miles of MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) between MD 198 (Laurel – Fort Meade Road ) and MD 175 will be resurfaced this spring and summer. Those who travel this corridor in the Laurel and Fort Meade corridors should plan extra travel time. Work will occur overnight, Sunday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Scheduled for completion in June, crews will resurface the existing shoulder and pavement, and restripe the travel lanes and shoulders to enhance visibility.  Each day, more than 53,000 vehicles travel this stretch of MD 32.  SHA awarded the $1.6 million project to Reliable Contracting of Millersville.

As crews strive to keep work zones safe, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone.
