(April 6, 2012) –The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) advises motorists of an upcoming lane closure along southbound MD 202 (Landover Road) at Campus Way South in Largo.  On Monday, April 9 after the evening rush hour crews will close the exclusive right turn only lane using concrete barriers.

Repair work includes installing erosion and sediment controls, removing the damaged pipe and then replacing it with a new underground pipe, then backfilling the area with riprap (large rocks and material) to stabilize the area.

SHA will maintain pedestrian access for those walking and cycling at the intersection.  Those who are driving along southbound MD 202 are encouraged to plan ahead.  Weather permitting, SHA expects work to be complete by mid-May.
The closure is necessary to ensure safety for drivers and work crews.  All repairs are being performed under an areawide SHA maintenance contract issued to Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg.  SHA reminds all drivers to buckle up, obey posted speed limits, think orange, and stay alert.

Customers who have questions about traffic operations along MD 202 or other State numbered routes in Prince George’s County may call SHA’s District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or via e-mail at shadistrict3@sha.state.md.us
