(March 26, 2012) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is temporarily closing the right lane on northbound MD 139 (Charles Street) between the Joppa Road overpass and Kenilworth Drive for two months beginning Monday morning through early June.
During the next two months, crews will widen the northbound Charles Street approach to the intersection, which is south of the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) / Charles Street Interchange. This section of roadway will be reconstructed to meet the alignment of the future northbound lanes of the new Charles Street Bridge over I-695, which will be complete later this summer.
SHA will close the right lane after 9 a.m. Monday April 2; the 24-hour lane closure will be in effect for approximately eight weeks, weather permitting. SHA urges motorists to plan ahead for extra travel time on northbound Charles Street during peak travel hours.
The State’s contractor for the $38 million interchange reconstruction project is the Six-M Company of Delta, Pennsylvania.
