(February 17, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) will activate a new traffic signal on MD 213, just north of Centreville at the intersection with Spaniard Neck Road on Friday, February 24.  The signal will also serve motorists traveling on Wexford Drive, which provides access to the North Brook residential development.

Portable dynamic message signs (DMS) will alert drivers to the new signal starting Tuesday, February 21, approximately 72 hours before the new traffic signal is fully activated.   At the same time, the signal will be placed into a “flash” mode, allowing motorists to become familiar with the new signal.

The portable DMS messages will continue to alert drivers about the new signal for the first two weeks after it is activated.  The North Brook community developer paid the $131,000 cost to design and install the new signal.

Drivers should stay alert for this change in traffic patterns and anticipate the new signal, which is the only one along MD 213 between Centreville and Chestertown.  When approaching the traffic signal slow down and don’t follow too closely.  Safer and alert driving benefits everyone.
