(December 22, 2011) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) has re-opened all travel lanes associated with the $6.7 million US 13 Business (Salisbury Boulevard) over US 50 Business (Salisbury Parkway) bridge rehabilitation project.  The entire project will be complete in early 2012, weather permitting.

“We appreciate the patience and cooperation of motorists during this project, and anticipate the reopening of all lanes on this vital highway link in downtown Salisbury will help people during their travels, especially during the busy holidays,” said Donnie Drewer, SHA District Engineer.

SHA may institute temporary single lane closures in early January to complete sidewalk and landscaping work.  All remaining work is expected to be finished during the first weeks of 2012, weather permitting.

SHA started the project in fall 2009 with major work getting underway in spring 2010 and is part of SHA’s system preservation efforts.  The bridge was originally built in 1961 and was in need of major maintenance and complete replacement of the four travel lanes on the bridge deck.

Citizens who have questions about traffic operations on US 13 Business, or other state numbered routes in Wicomico County may call SHA’s District 1 Office at or (410) 677-4000 toll-free 1-800-825-4742.
