(September 30, 2011) – This weekend, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will perform drainage improvements along two State highway routes in Anne Arundel County.  This work is necessary to improve drainage in the area.

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight Sept. 30, SHA will replace two drainage pipes under MD 175 (Annapolis Road) between MD 3 (Crain Highway) and McKnew Road in Anne Arundel County.  This section of the road will be closed; motorists are encouraged to use MD 32 as an alternate route.

Crews will also work on MD 214 (Central Avenue) between MD 2 (Solomons Island Road) and Riva Road.  SHA crews will replace an underground pipe near Beards Creek. Crews will maintain traffic using a flagging operation.

Work at both projects should be complete by 5 a.m. Monday October 3.  While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert - look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don't follow too closely.  Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones.  For everyone.
