Drivers Can Expect Daytime Single-Lane Closures Expected on Eastbound I-70 Through Late January
(December 7, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will upgrade guardrail on eastbound I-70 between the Howard County line and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in Baltimore County beginning Tuesday, December 12. The $547,000 project should be complete by late January 2024, weather permitting.
The work includes removal and replacement of existing metal traffic barriers along eastbound I-70. Drivers should expect daytime single lane and shoulder closures along eastbound I-70 Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, L. S. Lee, Inc. of Elkridge, will use temporary portable message signs, construction traffic signs, cones, and barrels to guide drivers safely through the eastbound I-70 work zone. Drivers should plan for additional travel time and look ahead for temporary lane closures in the work zone.
