Overnight Project Requires Single-Lane and Ramp Closures; Work Will Improve Access and Safety for Motorists
(April 28, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin overnight work on Tuesday, May 2, to install an auxiliary lane on
southbound US 15 from Willow Road to Christopher's Crossing in Frederick County.
Starting at 10 p.m. Tuesday, crews will close the right lane to begin improvements. The project will be complete by June, weather permitting. The auxiliary lane will then be extended to a span of a quarter mile to enhance safety for motorists by helping them enter and exit the highway.

Drivers can expect a right-lane closure on southbound US 15 during work hours, which will be 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays.
Additionally, exit ramps on southbound US 15 at Willow Road and Christopher’s Crossing will be closed and detoured during construction. Motorists on Willow Road traveling to US 15 will be detoured using Willowbrook Road/Opossumtown Pike to Christopher’s Crossing and then to US 15. Motorists on southbound US 15 traveling to Willow Road or Christopher’s Crossing will be directed to the Motter Avenue exit, then northbound US 15 to reach their destination.
State Highway Administration contractor Francis O. Day Co., of Rockville, will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to safely guide motorists through the work zone and detour route.
With warm weather upon us, all motorists are urged to remain vigilant for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
