​Utility Work Scheduled for Approximately Four Weeks South of Hunt Meadow Drive 

(September 24, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is advising drivers of an upcoming traffic pattern change at MD 387 (Spa Road) / Ferry Point Road in Annapolis starting Monday, September 28, weather permitting.

The weekday daytime road closure will close a section of MD 387 (Spa Road) / Ferry Point Road between Hunt Meadow Drive and Harness Creek Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weekdays for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Vehicles will be guided along a signed detour directing drivers along Hunt Meadow Drive to connect back to Spa Road / Ferry Point Road.

The temporary weekday detour will allow crews to complete utility work in this area. The developer’s contractor, Reliable Contracting Inc. of Gambrills, will use arrow boards, cones, and flaggers to safely guide drivers along the signed detour route. Portable variable message signs are also in place advising of the upcoming road work.

Construction and traffic impacts are expected due to the construction of the Village at Providence Point, which will be located along the west side of Spa Road. Overall planned improvements include construction of a shared use-path along southbound Spa Road, Forest Drive at Spa Road intersection upgrades, widening and resurfacing of Spa Road to include installation of pavement markings, turn lanes and stormwater/drainage enhancements. Future roadwork may occur during off-peak hours that will require potential lane shifts associated with the project.

The City of Annapolis and the Maryland State Highway Administration appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while this work is underway. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone.
