​Overnight Projects Require Single-Lane and Shoulder Closures 

(April 30, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will improve 25 miles of roadway in Carroll, Frederick and Howard counties beginning in early May. All of the projects, which require single lane and shoulder closures during the work hours, are expected to complete by July, weather permitting.   

The first project will start this Sunday, May 3 on MD 140 (Baltimore Blvd) between MD 27 (Manchester Rd) and MD 91 (Emory Rd), a span of eight miles, near Westminster, Carroll County. The project’s schedule is Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.   

In Howard County, crews will improve the driving surface on MD 175 between the US 29 (Columbia Pike) interchange and US 1 (Washington Blvd), a span of six miles. This project is expected to begin on Sunday, May 10. The overnight schedule is 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.   

In Frederick County, road improvements will be made to MD 75 (Green Valley Rd) between Old Annapolis Rd and the Frederick/Carroll County line, east of Clemsonville Rd​, a span of 11 miles. This project is expected to start before the end of May.   

The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
