(February 26, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin bridge joint repairs on the westbound I-70 bridge over the Patapsco River/CSX Railroad beginning Sunday, March 1. The work should be completed by Friday, March 6, weather permitting.
Motorists traveling at night can expect a double, right-lane closure from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night until Friday. Drivers may want to consider using US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) as an overnight alternate route until the repair project is completed.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Marksman Company of Baltimore, will use electronic message boards and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow Down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.
