STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO CLOSE VARIOUS RAMPS AT I-695/I-70 INTERCHANGE OVERNIGHT NEXT WEEK IN BALTIMORE COUNTY

​Expect Ramp Closures 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. February 22-25 and Overnight Lane Closures on I-695 Thursday, February 26 

​(February 20, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close and detour various ramps at the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) / I-70 interchange overnight next week to prepare for an interchange bridge painting and cleaning project this spring.    

The work, which starts Sunday, February 22, is expected to be complete by the morning of Friday, February 27. All work is weather permitting,  

Each night from Sunday through Wednesday, contractor crews will install temporary concrete barriers along bridges to create a work zone and temporary platforms for crews working on the bridges. Motorists should also expect single- and double-lane closures overnight on Thursday February 26.  The closures and detours will be in effect between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night. Detour routes will be posted each night.    

In case of inclement weather, the schedule is subject to change and overnight work and detours will take place or the next possible weeknight (Sunday through Thursday).

    • Eastbound I-70 Local ramp to ​Northbound I-695 (Inner Loop), 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. 
    • Westbound I-70 to Southbound I-695 (Outer Loop), 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. 
  • ​Monday, February 23 
    • ​Eastbound I-70 ramp to Northbound I-695 (Inner Loop), 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. 
    • Westbound I-70 to Southbound I-695 (Outer Loop), 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. 
  • ​Tuesday, February 24 
    • Northbound I-695 (Inner Loop) Ramp to Westbound I-70, 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. 
    • Southbound I-695 (Outer Loop) Ramp to Eastbound I-70 Local, 10 p.m. - 5 a.m.   
  • ​Wednesday, February 25 
    • ​Northbound I-695 (Inner Loop) Ramp to Westbound I-70, 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. 
    • Southbound I-695 (Outer Loop) Ramp to Eastbound I-70 Local, 10 p.m. - 5 a.m.  

Overnight Lane Closures 

  • ​Thursday, February 26 
    • ​Northbound and Southbound I-695 at I-70 – Single and double-lane closures, 8 p.m. - 5 a.m.    

This work is part of an upcoming State Highway Administration contract to clean and paint eight bridges within the I-695 / I-70 interchange. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Reglas Painting, will also use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide motorists through the work zone and posted detour routes.
