Motorists Will Be Detoured to US 50 Overnight

(February 12, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will perform nighttime guardrail repairs on MD 90 (Ocean City Expressway) between MD 589 (Racetrack Road) and MD 528 (Coastal Highway) in Worcester County on Wednesday, February 18. Crews are expected to complete the work by 5 a.m. Thursday, February 19, weather permitting.

The guardrail repairs will include two different locations along MD 90, one near MD 589 and the other repair near the eastern end of the St. Martins Bridge. During repairs, traffic will be detoured to US 50.

Starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday, contractor, L. S. Lee, Inc. of York, PA, will use message boards, arrow boards, and cones to safely guide motorists through the detour. Drivers should add approximately 30 minutes to their commute during the guardrail repair work.

The State Highway Administration understands that roadwork can be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to ensure a safe and reliable highway network. Drivers are asked to slow down, be patient, allow extra travel time, stay alert and move over when approaching a work zone.
