Nighttime Lane Closures Scheduled to Begin September 15
(September 10, 2025) - The Maryland State Highway Administration will perform routine maintenance on the US 50/301 Severn River Bridge in Anne Arundel County starting Monday night, September 15. The nighttime work is expected to be complete by early November, weather permitting.
Drivers should expect double-lane closures Sunday through Thursday nights, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, with work beginning on the eastbound US 50 span first.
Maintenance work includes repairing the bridge deck drains, joint seals at the bridge abutments, asphalt approaches, and the bridge navigation lights for marine vessels.
State Highway Administration contractor Covington Machine & Welding Inc. of Annapolis will use portable variable message signs and barrels to guide drivers through the work zone.
Customers may contact the District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or 1-800-331-5603 for additional information. Drivers are reminded to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadway.
