ON HOLD ​Major Delays Expected on Weekends in December, Drivers Urged to Take Alternative Routes Between Reisterstown, Owings Mills and Pikesville 

(December 2, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily closing multiple lanes along southbound I-795 (Northwest Expressway) between MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) for concrete pavement repairs.

Multiple contractor crews will be working at various locations along all lanes of southbound I-795, left side or right side, throughout the month of December. During the project, crews will remove damaged concrete pavement and temporary patches and, once the old pavement is removed, crews will pour, set and test sections of new concrete pavement.

The lane closure schedule below is now on hold. New dates will be announced.


December 4 – 6 (Weekdays)

  • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: Single-lane closure (left or right lane).

December 6 – 9, December 13 – 16 and December 20 - 23 (Weekends)

  • 9 p.m. Friday through noon Saturday: Single- and Double-lane closures (left or right side).
  • Noon Saturday through 9 p.m. Saturday: Single-lane closure (left or right side).
  • 9 p.m. Saturday through noon Sunday: Single and Double-lane closure (left or right side).
  • Noon Sunday through 5 a.m. Monday: Single-lane closure (left or right side).
  • 5 a.m. Monday: All lanes open.

After crews have completed a section of concrete work, the affected lane(s) will remain closed to all traffic until the new concrete is cured, tested and declared safe for travel.

Contractor Concrete General of Gaithersburg will perform the concrete work on I-795. Maryland State Police will patrol the southbound I-795 work zone. Drivers should consider MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) or MD 26 (Liberty Road) as alternate routes.
