Motorists Can Expect Overnight Lane Closures on I-695 at Bridge Through Early 2025

(September 12, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is beginning a project to clean and paint the bridge carrying the CSX Transportation (CSXT) railroad line over I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) near the I-795 interchange in Baltimore County on Sunday, September 15. The bridge painting project should be complete early winter 2025, weather permitting.

Beginning at 9 p.m., crews will work overnights to remove the existing paint on the bridge and apply a new coating to the structure. Work will take place Sundays through Thursdays 9 p.m.-5 a.m. During work hours, motorists can expect shoulder closures and occasional single and double lane closures on I-695 underneath the bridge.

The project is part of the State Highway Administration’s program for regular maintenance and painting of structures on the State highway system. Contractor Manolis Painting, Inc. of Baldwin will perform the work.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
