Motorists Can Expect Overnight Double-Lane Closures Through Wednesday

(May 20, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will continue installing sensors on the eastbound span of the US 50/301 Severn River Bridge in Anne Arundel County on Tuesday, May 21, weather permitting. The work is expected to be complete by Wednesday, May 22.

Starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday, crews will begin installing sensors at various locations of the eastbound side of the bridge. These sensors will be used to monitor and collect data on how temperature changes affect the bridge. The work will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 22. A double-lane closure will be in effect while work is taking place.

The State Highway Administration appreciates motorists’ patience as we complete this necessary inspection and maintenance work. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.
