Drivers Can Expect Multi-Lane Closures Overnight Through December

(September 11, 2023) –The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will install raised pavement markings in both directions on I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) between MD 5 (Branch Avenue) and Livingston Road in Prince George’s County beginning this week. The work should be complete by December, weather permitting.

Crews will perform the work overnight, Sundays through Thursdays 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Motorists can expect a double-lane closure beginning at 8 p.m., followed by a triple-lane closure at 9 p.m. Closing three travel lanes during the work hours will safely establish a buffer between the crews in the work zone and the open travel lane.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Corporate Maintenance Group, LLC, of Columbia, will use arrow boards and construction vehicles to safely guide drivers through the work zone. Overnight travelers are encouraged to consider using alternate routes during work hours.

The State Highway Administration understands that roadwork can be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to ensure a safe and reliable highway network. Slow down, be patient, allow extra travel time, stay alert and move over when approaching a work zone.

Customers who have questions may contact the State Highway Administration District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
