Daytime Project will Repair Roadway, Resurface Nearly Two Miles of MD 464

(July 19, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to improve the pavement on MD 464 (Point of Rocks Road) between Frazer Road and Catoctin Creek, a span of almost two miles, in Brunswick on Monday, July 24. The project should be complete by mid-August, weather permitting.

The project includes milling, patching, paving, and restriping the main lanes and shoulders of MD 464. During work hours, drivers should expect single-lane closures guided by a flagging operation Mondays through Fridays 8a.m.-5 p.m.

Contractor, Francis O. Day Inc., of Rockville, will use barrels, cones, flaggers, and arrow boards to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Motorcyclists should use extra caution for uneven pavement during the resurfacing project.

The State Highway Administration understands lane closures associated with road construction may be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system. Drivers should slow down, pay close attention, and move over if possible while driving through work zones.
