Second Shift Planned for August at Bridge over Amtrak in Cecil County
WHAT:
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is shifting northbound MD 272 (Mauldin Avenue) traffic onto the new bridge over Amtrak in North East (Cecil County). Southbound MD 272 traffic will remain on the original bridge until later this summer.
WHEN:
Monday, July 1, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rain date is Tuesday, July 2.
IMPACT:
Motorists should expect a single lane closure and flagging on MD 272 during the traffic shift.
WHY:
This shift will allow crews to reconstruct and realign MD 272 with the new bridge over Amtrak. The bridge is being constructed adjacent to the original bridge. A second traffic shift is planned for August to put southbound MD 272 traffic on the new bridge.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our contractor. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
