(May 31, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is increasing ridesharing opportunities in Frederick County with the opening of a new 400-space Park and Ride on Monocacy Boulevard off US 15 (Catoctin Mountain Highway).
The new lot features transit options to meet the growing travel demands of Frederick commuters. It is part of the $61-million US 15/Monocacy Boulevard Interchange project, which is expected to finish later this summer. The project included the construction of a new four-lane bridge on Monocacy Boulevard over US 15 with access ramps to allow drivers to safely merge.
The new park and ride lot is conveniently located in an area that connects to I-270 and I-70 and is experiencing tremendous residential and commercial growth. Each day, approximately 45,000 vehicles use this section of US 15 and Monocacy Boulevard.
All MDOT SHA park and ride lots offer free parking and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
