Drivers Should Plan for Additional Travel Time; Follow Posted Detour
(September 27, 2017) – Beginning Monday, October 2 at 9 p.m., the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close the ramp from northbound I-95 to northbound I-895 in Howard County. Closures will take place Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for approximately 3 weeks.
The closure and detour is necessary to place noise wall panels along the exit ramp as part of the $13.7 million project. Motorists will be detoured from northbound I-95 to eastbound I-695 (inner loop) to exit 8A- northbound I-895 to access the Harbor Tunnel Thruway.
While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
