Project Also Includes Highway Drainage Improvements

(September 13, 2017) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is resurfacing MD 68 (Clearspring Road) between Bottom Road and the Conococheague Creek Bridge in Washington County. The one-half mile project will be complete late-fall.

Last resurfaced in 1992, the $900,000 project will begin with the installation of a large elliptical pipe which will significantly improve road drainage. Crews will then patch, mill (remove the top layer of asphalt), pave and stripe the travel lanes.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Hitek Construction of Frederick, is permitted to work every day, including weekends, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Drivers should expect single lane closures guided by flaggers. Approximately 3,600 vehicles use this section of MD 68 in Williamsport each day so motorists are encouraged to add extra drive time during construction.
