Crews to Pave Ramp from Southbound MD 295 to Westbound I-195

(July 18, 2017) – On Thursday night, July 20, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close the ramp from southbound MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Boulevard) to westbound I-195.  Crews will post detour signs for traffic during the closure which is needed for crews to resurface the ramp.  The work and ramp closure will begin at 10 p.m. and reopen to the travelling public by 5 a.m. Friday.

This work is part of the $2 million safety and resurfacing project on southbound MD 295 between Winterson Road and Hanover Road.  Motorists will be detoured to I-95 to access I-195.  Drivers can also use US 1 (Washington Boulevard) as an alternate route.  A detour will be in place for those travelling southbound MD 295 to westbound I-195:

• Follow southbound MD 295 to the next exit; MD 100 west / Ellicott City

• Continue MD 100 west to exit 5; I-95 north/Baltimore

• Stay on I-95 to exit 47A and follow signs to I-195

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver should actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.

Maryland drivers can also know before they go by calling 511 or visiting www.md511.org for live traffic updates, including construction delays and lane closures and view e-Road Ready 2017 for an interactive listing of major highway projects.  Those who have further questions may call the MDOT SHA District 5 Office at 410-841-1020 or send email to hgonzales@sha.state.md.us.
