(November 19, 2015) – For most of 2015, motorists crossing Tuckahoe Creek on MD 404 (Shore Highway) have passed within a few feet of the new eastbound bridge under construction.  Tomorrow (November 20), they will drive on the new bridge as SHA shifts all eastbound and westbound traffic onto the structure.  Drivers should be extra alert while driving through the work zone and new traffic pattern.

The shift will restore the MD 303 (Cordova Road/Main Street) connection to eastbound MD 404.

SHA’s contractor will begin construction of a new westbound span this winter. Estimated completion for the entire 1.58 mile MD 404 dualization from west of MD 309 to east of Cemetery Road is summer 2017, weather permitting.

SHA awarded the $18 million construction contract to David A. Bramble of Chestertown. On average, more than 20,000 vehicles travel this portion of MD 404 each day and the route serves residents and businesses, travelers to area beaches and farmers as an agricultural corridor for the Eastern Shore.
