Crews Working Behind Concrete Barrier on the Shoulder

(October 27, 2015) – Crews from the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) have started a project to upgrade the dual culverts that carry Sucker Branch under the I-70/US 29 (Columbia Pike) interchange in Howard County. The project should be completed by Thanksgiving (November 26), weather permitting.

The culverts run under the ramps from northbound US 29 to eastbound I-70 and westbound I-70 to southbound US 29. Most of the work on the $250,000 project will be completed behind concrete barrier. There may be occasional traffic impacts during off-peak hours to transport equipment and materials to the work site. SHA’s contractor, PDI Sheetz of Linthicum, will use concrete barrier, arrow boards and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists are urged to use caution through the work zone. For the latest real-time travel information, log onto www.md511.org.
