(August 13, 2015) – Beginning this Saturday, August 15, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will resurface the parking lot across the street from the Bay Country Rest Area on US 301 at Hayden Clark Road (MD 834) near Centreville in Queen Anne’s County. This lot, which is directly across Hayden Clark Road from the Bay Country facility in the U.S. 301 median, will remain closed to all vehicles until Monday, August 24. (See map below). This  closure is necessary for the asphalt to properly cure to handle heavy trucks.

The resurfacing work will not affect general parking and operations at the Bay Country facility, which is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gates to the facility parking lot are locked at 5 p.m.

An average of 15,000 vehicles travel this portion of US 301 each day. This work is being performed under a $4.8 million multi-location areawide resurfacing contract awarded to David A. Bramble of Chestertown. Estimated cost for resurfacing this parking lot is $143,000.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to keep traffic safely moving in work zones, please partner with us because work zone safety is everyone’s business – slow down and stay alert. Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone.
