(May 4, 2015) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State  Highway Administration (SHA) today reopened the MD 950 (Garden City Drive) ramps to east and westbound US 50 (John Hanson Highway) in Prince George’s County.  The road was closed following a pipe collapse in early March.

As crews worked to replace the pipe they also diverted a nearby stream, repaired a gas line, relocated a water line, and maneuvered around underground high voltage lines, then replaced the asphalt, curb, gutters, sidewalks and landscaped the area.  SHA finished the work ahead of the estimated completion date.

“SHA appreciates residents’ and commuters’ patience while crews completed this emergency repair,” said District Engineer Brian Young. “We also appreciate the support from Prince George’s County and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.”
