What:

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting an informational meeting to update the public on the design and construction of three proposed roundabouts at State road intersections in Cecil County.

Locations include:
MD 273 (Telegraph Road) at MD 545 (Blue Ball Road) in Blue Ball
MD 273 (Telegraph Road) at Appleton Road in Appleton
MD 281 (Red Hill Road) at Muddy Lane in Elkton.

Why:
Roundabouts improve safety at intersections by enhancing intersection operations, slowing vehicle speeds and reducing the severity of crashes. Roundabouts also provide a traffic calming effect as vehicles must slow down to enter the intersection. Motorists traveling through the roundabout have the right-of-way and drivers entering the roundabout are required to yield.

SHA is evaluating these locations that are in various stages of project development for either planning or design.  Area residents, emergency medical service representatives and business owners are encouraged to attend and provide comments. Displays will be available for viewing, and the project team will be available to answer questions.

When:
Wednesday, November 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.; SHA presentation is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Where:
Cecil County Administration Building – Elk Room
200 Chesapeake Boulevard
Elkton MD 21921
