(October 15, 2014) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the exit ramps from southbound I-95 to MD 198 (Sandy Spring Road) and detour exiting traffic during nighttime resurfacing activities this week. The resurfacing work is part of the last segment of the Intercounty Connector (ICC) Project.

On Thursday night, October 16, crews will close the ramp from southbound I-95 to westbound MD 198 (Exit 33B) to traffic for resurfacing, weather permitting. On Friday night, October 17, crews will close the ramp from southbound I-95 to eastbound MD 198 (Exit 33A) for resurfacing, weather permitting.

During both nighttime ramp exit closures motorists should follow the posted detour to MD 212 (Powder Mill Road – Exit 29) to northbound I-95, to the collector distributor (CD) lanes where traffic can exit onto MD 198. Portable message signs will be used to advise motorists about the exit closures and guide motorists through the work zone.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone!
