(March 7, 2014) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is making emergency repairs to the northbound MD 5 (Branch Avenue) bridge over Coventry Way in Prince George’s County.  The metal bridge joint is loose and needs to be repaired.  Crews will have the left shoulder closed to maintain the joint through the afternoon rush hour.

Beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, crews will block the left lane to initiate permanent repairs.  As the evening progresses, additional lanes will be blocked to complete the repairs. All lanes will be open no later than Monday at 5 a.m.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
