(March 19, 2013) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) is resurfacing three miles of roadway in various locations in Dorchester County beginning Monday, March 25.  Weather permitting, all work will be complete by the end of June.

SHA will begin paving at three locations along nearly a mile and a half along MD 335 (Hooper’s Island Road) between the Blackwater Crossroads and the Honga River.

SHA will also resurface three locations in the Town of Hurlock including:

The $685,500 areawide contract was awarded to American Infrastructure, Inc. of Fallston and will begin late March or early April, depending on temperatures.  Motorists should expect single lane closures and occasional flagging operations at all six resurfacing locations Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  SHA will use cones and barrels together with a flagging operation to guide motorists through the work zones.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safer driving. Safer work zones. Benefit everyone!
