SHA has reached a major milestone of the I-695/Frederick Road bridge replacement project. Beginning 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, crews will shift all traffic on the old Frederick Road bridge over to the first half of the new Frederick Road bridge. Crews will also re-open the ramp from I-695 South/Outer Loop to Frederick Road, which has been closed for construction work.
During the late-night traffic switch, the Frederick Road bridge will remain open, with Maryland State Police and flagpersons controlling traffic within the interchange area.
However, there will be a temporary overnight closure of the ramp from Frederick Road to I-695 South/Outer Loop between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday. Motorists will be diverted to the ramp to I-695 North/Inner Loop, through the Edmondson Avenue interchange, and back to I-695 South/Outer Loop.
Weather permitting, the new traffic pattern will be in effect 5 a.m. Thursday, November 29. In case of inclement weather, the bridge traffic switch and ramp re-opening will take place on the next possible weeknight.
