Maryland Welcome Centers and Rest Areas

The State of Maryland operates numerous welcome centers and rest areas at major gateways and strategic locations.

The major facilities are located on Interstate and Primary highways and provide modern restroom facilities, travel information, vending machines, picnic facilities and telephones.

These facilities are located on the Maryland Official Highway Map and are further described as follows:

US 219 Cove Overlook Rest Area near Keyser’s Ridge Restroom facilities closed permanently. However, parking remains available. 34900 GARRETT HWY, ACCIDENT, MD 21520. It is located on US 219 approximately 2.5 miles south of I-68 in Garrett County, Maryland. The site offers spectacular views of the valley.
I-68 Youghiogheny Overlook in Friendsville Welcome Center Open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Rest area open 7 days a week 24 hours per day.
6172 NATIONAL FWY, FRIENDSVILLE, MD 21531. Located on eastbound I-68, 1.5 miles east of Friendsville in Garrett County, MD, this site offers an outstanding view of the Youghiogheny reservoir. Ph: (301) 746-5230
I-68 Sideling Hill Rest Area Welcome Center Open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

3000 SIDELING HILL, HANCOCK, MD 21750. Located on I-68, approximately 10 miles west of Hancock in Washington County, MD. The site offers spectacular views and geologic history of the Sideling Hill Cut. Ph: (301) 678-6035
I-70 East and I-70 West Welcome Centers Welcome Center: Closed Mondays and Tuesdays, Open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.​

Rest area open 7 days a week, 24 hours per day.
1650 DWIGHT D EISENHOWER HWY, MYERSVILLE, MD 21773. The welcome centers serve both eastbound and westbound traffic on I-70. They are in a natural setting on South Mountain between Frederick and Hagerstown in Frederick County, MD. I-70 West. Ph: (301) 293-8435 I-70 East. Ph: (301) 293-4172
I-95 South and I-95 North Welcome Centers

Welcome Center: Closed Mondays, Open Tuesday through Sunday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m..

Rest area open 7 days a week 24 hours per day.

8202 ROUTE 95, LAUREL, MD 20723. These welcome centers are located on Interstate Route 95 between Baltimore and Washington in Howard County, MD. The southbound site serves traffic heading towards Washington D.C. and points south. Ph: (301) 490-2444. US 301 Crain Memorial Welcome Center Welcome Center – 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. daily

Restrooms open daily 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
12480 CRAIN HWY, NEWBURG, MD 20664. Located approximately two miles north of the Potomac River on northbound U.S. 301 in Charles County Maryland, this facility is the gateway into Southern Maryland from Virginia. Ph: (301) 259-2500.
US 301 Bay Country Rest Area near Centreville Welcome Center Open 7 days a week from 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

1000 WELCOME CENTER DR, CENTREVILLE, MD 21617. This site is located on U.S. 301 in Queen Anne's County, MD, approximately 13 miles north of its junction with U.S. 50. The facility is in the median of U.S. 301 and serves both northbound and southbound traffic. Ph: (410) 758-2181.
US 13 North Welcome Center in Pocomoke Welcome Center - Open daily 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

144 OCEAN HWY, POCOMOKE CITY, MD  21851. This welcome center is located on U.S. 13, northbound, just north of the Virginia State Line in Worcester County, Maryland. It is approximately four miles south of Pocomoke City and is the gateway to Maryland's lower Eastern Shore. Ph: (410) 957-2484.
Mason Dixon Welcome Center at US 15 South in Emmitsburg Welcome Center: Closed Mondays and Tuesdays, Open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

17300 CATOCTIN MOUNTAIN HWY, EMMITSBURG, MD  21727 . This welcome center is located on US 15 South, 10 miles south of Gettysburg and serves traffic heading north on US 15 via the turnaround past Emmitsburg exit and south from Gettysburg, 1 mile south of the PA line. Ph: (301) 447-3719.
Sailwinds Visitor Center Welcome Center and Restrooms open daily from 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. 2 ROSE HILL DR, CAMBRIDGE, MD 21613. This center is at the foot of the Choptank River Bridge off of US 50. Ph: (410) 228-1000.
Princess Anne Rest Area Restroom facilities Welcome Center - Open Monday through Sunday 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Restrooms - Open November through March daily 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and April through October daily 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.

In addition to the above facilities, the Maryland Transportation Authority operates two full-service facilities on the toll portion of Interstate 95 (JFK Memorial Highway). These are:

Throughout Maryland there are many scenic overlooks, minor rest areas, and county-operated welcome centers available to the motorist. These facilities are located on the Maryland Official Highway Map, which is available at any welcome center.
