Guidelines for Residential Entrances to State Highways - ILLUSTRATIONS

The following drawings illustrate basic designs for a residential driveway entrance. You must consider existing features at or near the site. Select your driveway location based upon available sight distance and the location of other entrances (existing or proposed) in the immediate area. Your application must be approved by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA).

Note: In general, use "depressed curb" type entrances along closed section (curbed) highways. Use "open section" driveway aprons on roadways without curbing.
