Traffic will be Alternated with a Flagging Operation 24/7 Until July 21
(June 27, 2017) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is in the process of rehabilitating a concrete culvert on
MD 94 (Woodbine Road) near A.E. Mullinix Road in Lisbon. Crews will be closing one lane on the two-lane section of MD 94 for two weeks to move cranes in place to complete the $400,000 rehabilitation project. Weather permitting, all lanes will re-open by July 21.
Motorists can expect a flagging operation to alternate traffic through the work zone 24 hours per day until the rehabilitation is complete. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg is currently excavating areas behind the culvert and, due to the proximity of overhead electrical wires, will need to close the lane for the duration of the repair.
Approximately 5,600 vehicles use this section of MD 94 daily so motorists should plan extra commuting time. MDOT SHA will provide advanced warning signs to alert motorists on both I-70 and MD 94 of the flagging operation associated with the project.
While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver need to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
