(June 23, 2011)  -- Next week, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin overnight lane and ramp closures on southbound I-95 at the MD 212/Powder Mill Road interchange (exit 29) as part of the Intercounty Connector (ICC) project.  The closures are necessary to install new overhead sign structures.  Weather permitting, the lane and ramp closures will occur between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. along I-95. 

 

Tuesday, June 28 through Thursday, June 30 – The right lane on southbound I-95 will be closed prior to exit 29 (MD 212) beginning at 7 p.m. each night.  The two right lanes will be closed beginning at 11 p.m., and the ramp from southbound I-95 to eastbound MD 212 will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Motorists wanting to access eastbound MD 212 from southbound I-95 will be detoured on southbound I-95 through the park and ride lot at the I-95/I-495 interchange, then back onto I-95 north to access eastbound MD 212. 

 

SHA recommends motorists on southbound I-95 consider alternate routes including MD 295 (Baltimore Washington Parkway) or US 29 (Columbia Pike) to avoid delays.  Overhead variable message signs will alert motorists in advance of the work.
