Harrisburg – PennDOT Engineering District 8 today began shoulder repairs on a five-mile section of U.S. Route 15 between Route 394 in Straban Township and Route 234 in Tyrone Township, Adams County.

The $8,730,048 contract was awarded on April 26 to Valley Quarries, Inc. of Chambersburg, Franklin County, and includes shoulder replacement, drainage repairs, concrete patching, bituminous overlay of the existing pavement, guiderail and sign installation and new traffic lines.

PennDOT reminds motorists traveling U.S. Route 15 that they may encounter shifting traffic patterns and single-lane restrictions weekdays after 8 a.m. from now until Nov. 23 for shoulder replacement and drainage repairs. Construction crews will break Nov. 23 and return in the spring to finish repairs in preparation for resurfacing.

U.S. Route 15, known locally as the Blue-Gray Highway, averages 18,400 vehicles traveled daily.
