PROGRAM OPEN AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2024
TAC (Tourist Area Corridor) signs are supplemental directional guides on selected public roads, providing clear navigation to Maryland's recreational facilities and cultural treasures. These include museums, visitor centers, and cultural exhibits that teach visitors and Maryland residents about the State’s rich culture and activities.
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA), in partnership with the Maryland Department of Commerce, accepts applications to join the TAC Program. By working with attractions, the State provides motorists with guidance to a variety of locations to visit and experience. The revamped TAC signage program, established under Maryland House Bill HB1032, allows eligible attractions to develop a signage plan with their engineering consulting firm and install the signage through their contractor.
The TAC signage program consists of three phases: application, design, and construction. Please refer to the information below for further instructions on each phase.
Applications will be accepted beginning October 1st, 2024. Interested attractions may begin the process by downloading and reviewing the TAC brochure.
After your application is approved, please coordinate with your engineering consulting firm and refer to the below information to prepare the signage plan.
After your signage plan is approved, please coordinate with your contractor and refer to the below information to start signage installation.
